  • Northern Exumas. Known for their proximity to Nassau, these cays feature deserted beaches and vibrant marine life.
    • Norman’s Cay: A notorious drug smuggling hub in the 1970s, this cay is now a popular spot for divers. The highlight is a sunken C-46 cargo plane that serves as a thriving artificial reef. Norman’s Cay Marina is available for mooring.
    • Highbourne Cay: A convenient first or last stop on a charter from Nassau, with a full-service marina, restaurant, and beautiful beaches.
    • Allen’s Cay: Here, visitors can see the protected and rare Bahamian rock iguanas.

    • Thunderball Grotto: A partially submerged cave system famous as a filming location for James Bond movies. At low tide, snorkelers can swim inside and observe the colorful fish and natural rock formations.
    • Big Major Cay (Pig Beach): Located near Staniel Cay, this uninhabited island is where the famous swimming pigs live.
